Obituary

Wayne Metzinger, 65, of Hudson, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Wayne was a devoted grandfather, father, husband, and friend, adored by many.

Wayne was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Henry & Madelyn Metzinger. He spent his childhood delivering papers and riding his minibike before moving to Abington, Pennsylvania with his four siblings. He attended Abington High School and Penn State University, graduating with a Bachelor's in Accounting in 1981. He excelled in Spanish classes and bowling, and in his spare time, worked at the local lumber yard, Claster's.

Wayne married his high school sweetheart, Jeannie, in 1982; they met working in the cafeteria at Abington Hospital. He worked at the Jenkintown-based accounting firm Zelenkofsy's before establishing a lengthy career at Seravalli Contractors as the Corporate Controller. He was most proud to be a prominent organizer of the philanthropic work that Seravalli sponsored to benefit Give Kids the World.

A member of the Corvette Club of Delaware Valley, Wayne was exclusively seen behind the wheel, under the hood, or in attendance at regional car shows. This is where he made lifelong friendships. His love of cars gradually became an obsession as he later became a groupie for the Barrett Jackson car auctions, traveling to Uncasville, Connecticut, West Palm Beach, and even Las Vegas to see the action in person.

Wayne loved to ski and supported both of his children in competitive skiing throughout their adolescence, serving as an accountant for the Big Boulder Ski Team in the 90's. He was a handyman extraordinaire, and if you lingered too long, he might hand you a hammer. He loved spending time at his second home in the Poconos, and was known among his friends to be the "luckiest man alive." His most legendary win included a 2016 Torch Red Corvette, delivered from the Corvette Factory and Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He also loved spending time with his extended family, hosting parties, and mixing fancy drinks.

After retirement, Wayne took on his most important position: Grandfather, or Pop, to Louise Hart. He absolutely adored her, and she him. She would help him with complex animal puzzles and he would sneak her M&Ms and share his hot fudge sundaes despite protestations from her parents.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Jeannie Metzinger; his daughter Jamie (Alex) Hart; his granddaughter Louise Hart; his siblings Carol (Warren) Kimmel, Paul (Mary) Metzinger, and Lynn (Jeff) Fasick; numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren; and many loyal friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved son John Ross Metzinger.
