Raymond R.
Difrancesco
Jul 30, 1928 — Oct 4, 2024
Raymond R. DiFrancesco, lovingly known as "Daddy" "Popi" and "Bowser," passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless memories. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Janet, for over 70 years, setting an inspiring example of love and commitment. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love, and together they built a family that became the center of Raymond's life. He cherished his family, always having boundless love and care for his parents, wife, siblings, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and everyone fortunate enough to be part of his life. His warmth and humor created an unforgettable bond that stretched across generations.
A man of many talents, "Popi" had a special talent in the kitchen, where he created simple yet unforgettable meals. He was known for whipping up the best taters, his legendary pancakes, tasty sandwiches, and the perfect tomato salad. He even had a knack for perfecting mushrooms and making quick snacks that somehow always "hit the spot." Every dish was a testament to his love for family and his desire to bring joy to their lives.
Raymond had a way with words, too, and his sayings will stay with us forever. These words of wisdom and humor, passed down over the years, are woven into the fabric of our family. His saying about passing, "Time marches on," speaks to his perspective on life—steady, resilient, and always moving forward.
An avid outdoorsman, Raymond loved hunting and found peace in nature. He took pride in making "deer meat" (venison), which he cooked to perfection, especially after a successful hunt. These loves contributed to countless stories to tell, and tell them he did, often more than once! But no matter how many times we heard them, they always brought a smile.
A natural problem-solver, "Daddy" could fix just about anything, if you wanted him to or not. Whether it was painting cars, sewing or repairing things around the house, he approached every task with creativity. His resourcefulness was admired by all who knew him. He was also a self-taught musician, teaching himself to play both the accordion and "mouth organ" (harmonica), serenading the house with music and joy.
"Popi" loved to frazzle and tease his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a sign of the playful spirit that defined his relationship with them. He loved getting a reaction and making them laugh and never missed a chance to playfully give them a hard time. And, of course, everyone had a special nickname, a personal touch that made each family member feel uniquely loved by him.
Raymond "Daddy" "Popi" DiFrancesco will be deeply missed. Though "time marches on," his spirit lives on in the stories we tell, the meals we share, and the laughter he inspired. His love, his humor, and his creativity will forever be a part of us. He leaves behind a family forever shaped by his laughter, kindness, and enduring presence. May his memory be a blessing to us all.
Raymond was the dear son of the late Angelo DiFrancesco and the late Adeline DiFrancesco (nee: D'Agostino); beloved husband of the late Janet (nee: Bressi); loving father of Regina (Francis) McCorry, and Janet (Donald Feenie) Bowser; dear brother of Guido and William DiFrancesco, and the late Edith DiMaria, Lola DiMaria, Mary Greer, Pasquale DiFrancesco, Amelia Rizzo, Alfred DiFrancesco, and Viola DiFrancesco; dear sister-in-law of Susan (Billy) Teufel and their family; loving grandfather of Jason McCorry, Desiree McCorry-Ciliberto, Robert "Bubba" Bowser Jr., Dean (Anita) Bowser, and Blaise "Biagio" McCorry; loving great-grandfather of Regina (Gia) Ciliberto, Deano Bowser, and Ava Rose Bowser.
