Our Community sadly lost a pillar of faith and love on Monday, January 17, 2022, when Patricia M. Kensey (nee: LeStorti) lovingly known as Mrs. Kensey, passed away at the age of 70 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born to Anthony and Conchetta LeStorti on February 18, 1951, and grew up in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she attended Cecilian Academy and Gwynedd Mercy University. She later moved to Willow Grove, PA, where she raised her family for many years before moving to Rockledge, PA, where she lived until she passed.
A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend, Pat was profoundly devoted to her faith and her community. She shared her deep and abiding love of Christ with thousands of children and families across the region during her 49 years as a first grade and pre-K teacher in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia at Queen of Peace, Saint David, St. Hilary of Poitiers, and Our Lady of Mercy.
Anyone who met her knows that Mrs. Kensey had a special way of making every child she taught, tutored, or even passed in the halls feel loved and supported, and she continued to be present in their and their families lives long after they left her classroom. She was famously known in the community for the songs she taught her students, the Christmas pageants she directed, and the Halloween stories she told at Masons Mill Park each year. Her family fondly remembers her stories about dancing on American Bandstand, her infamous chocolate covered pretzels, her impressive teddy bear collection, and her deep love for and appreciation of her Italian heritage and culture.
Patricia is survived by her mother, Conchetta LeStorti (predeceased by her father, Anthony F. LeStorti), her brother Anthony J. LeStorti, her four children Anthony Scalfaro (Bonnie); Kevin Scalfaro (Kathy); Kevin Sam Kensey (Christine); Suzanne Kolesar (Timothy), her four grandchildren Gabriel, Andrew, Megan, and Blaise, and a granddog Dante.
