Obituary

Nina Bianca Mariani Ferraro, a resident of Shannondell (Audubon), PA for the last 17 years, died peacefully Friday afternoon September 16, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She would have turned 95 in November.

Born November 29, 1927 in Sulmona, Italy, she was the daughter of Luigi and Francesca Mariani. As a young girl, Nina immigrated to the United States and grew up in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. She graduated from Germantown High School and went on to work for The Curtis Publishing Company. Throughout her life, Nina continued her love of learning through her passion for music and the arts.

Nina met her beloved husband, the late Frank Ferraro, on a blind date. They married in 1950 and would go on to share 54 years together. They built a life filled with love, devotion to family, laughter and music. Their home was a welcome haven to their many siblings, nieces, nephews and friends.

Nina was a devoted Mother, Grandmother (Nonna), Daughter, Sister, Aunt (Zia) and friend to many. Her passion for music, especially opera and her God given gift of a magnificent voice helped define her life. She performed until the later years of her life and shared her beautiful voice with many people in a variety of venues.

Nina is survived by her three daughters, Paula (Stephen Soule) of Stamford CT, Lisa Grant of Naperville Illinois, and Maria (Richard Zecca) of Malvern PA, six grandchildren, Matthew (Lisa Thompson) Jessica, Nina, Christopher Mark, Christopher (Soule), and Alexandra (fiancé Robert Mozzone), two beautiful great grandchildren, Parker and Henry Grant, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Her husband Frank predeceased her, as did brothers Salvatore and Mario, and sister Mary Buccini.

The family wishes to thank the extraordinary staff at Shannondell Meadows and Rehab for the loving care and compassion they provided Nina in her last year.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Visitation on Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 9:30 to 10:45 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 am ., at Saint David's Roman Catholic Church, 316 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA  19090. Interment is Private.
