Nancy M.
Rizzari
May 24, 1925 — Apr 1, 2025
Nancy Rizzari, age 99, passed away on April 1, 2025, at the Artman Home in Ambler, PA.. Nancy was born in Harlem NY on May 24, 1925. She was a woman of grace. She was a devout Catholic and fiercely devoted to her family, with her faith in God as the guiding force throughout her life. Though she was a child during the Great Depression, and a teenager during World War II, Nancy never felt shortchanged by her experiences growing up during such challenging times. She always remained grateful and optimistic.
She was the first to tell you she had a wonderful life because of her family and God. Her family was the center of her world. Nancy took care of her sister, Fannie, when she fell ill, as well as being the primary caretaker for her father, Mario, and eventually her mother, Concetta in 1990's. Nancy's selflessness was exemplified by her incredible patience and caregiver attributes. She never complained or felt burdened.
Nancy was hired by the NY telephone company in 1943. As an extremely intelligent, quick-learning woman, she eventually rose to the manager of the accounting department. This was quite a feat for a woman in those days— especially as a woman of Italian descent in the 1940s.
Beyond her day job, she also had a plethora of girlfriends with her best friend being her sister, Fannie. Nancy and Fannie traveled around the world making wonderful memories together. After Fannie passed in 1988, Nancy continued traveling and seeing the world with friends from work and Church. She was always aiming to explore and experience all that God's wonderful world has to offer.
Her New York roots remained strong, though, as she was an avid Yankee baseball fan from her childhood. She attended many games and saw some of the greatest names in baseball play in Yankee Stadium. As Nancy continued to live her best life, she remained focused on her faith and Godliness, as well as her extended family.
Her family's home in the Bronx was the nucleus of an extended family that consisted of many cousins, aunts, uncles and "paisans" from Italy. It was the gathering place for all holidays, birthdays, and big Italian Sunday dinners.
Nancy was also a very involved member of Sacred Heart Church in Scarsdale, NY where she lived after moving from the Bronx. Nancy's second home in Sag Harbor, NY was another home full of special memories as well. She loved to spend time at the beach and with her parents, relatives and friends who came to visit.
She moved to Pennsylvania in 2017 to be closer to family who cared for her. She lived her last six years at the Artman Lutheran Home where she was affectionately known as "Nancy from the Bronx." She created another family there of residents and wonderful caretakers who loved her as we did.
She leaves behind many loving cousins, Inez Friedman (Dan), Rosemarie Russo (Tony), Frank Pantano (Sarah), Joseph Pantano (Mary), Donna-Lee Lista (Ed), Jeananne Medici (Mike), John Fiorerosso (Denise), and many more second and third cousins, along with dear friends.
Nancy's Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, 11:00 am., at the Church of the Scared Heart, 11 Lawton Ave., Hartsdale, New York 10530. Interment will take place at St. Raymond's Cemetery in Bronx, New York.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that monetary donations be made in her name to the Artman( Lutheran) Home, 250 N. Bethlehem Pike, Springhouse PA 19002. www.artmanhome.org
