Obituary

It is with great sadness that Leroy Shoener (88) of Lansdale, PA, formally of Clarks Summit, PA, has passed away on November 11, 2023, surrounded by friends and family. Leroy was one of the kindest individuals and was admired by those who knew him.

Leroy, known to most as Roy, was born to William and Ann Shoener on June 21, 1935, in Scranton, PA. He was a dedicated boy scout as a child, reaching the accomplished level of Eagle Scout. He was a talented athlete who loved playing sports, especially basketball where he was captain of his Scranton Technical high school team. After graduating, Roy became a Print pressman working initially for Scranton Lithograph then Eureka, and eventually helping to start a successful printing company called Panel Prints as a founding partner rising to Vice President of Production.

Roy was also very involved in a variety of roles within youth sports including the Central City Little League Baseball, Green Ridge Teen League Baseball, Central City youth football, the Boys and Girls Club of Scranton and Weston Field Youth Leagues.

After his retirement he loved golf, making golf clubs for others, travel and just spending time with family, especially his beloved grandchildren whom he loved to glowingly talk about and organized many Disney trip memories for each grandchild on their 5th birthday. Roy also loved his sports and would never miss a big game, particularly with his favorite Penn State Nittany Lions, NY Giants, Phillies or Seventy Sixers.

Roy is survived by his wife Rosemary, whom he was married to for 66 years. Their marriage was a true love story and they loved and respected each other deeply as their partnership was admired by us all. He was a fantastic father, grandfather, great-grandfather and loved by all.

He is also survived by his two children Lori Marie Vitock (Richard), Charleston, SC; Lee William Shoener (Michelle), Hatfield, PA; He had a special relationship with his daughter-in-law and son-in-law where he treated them as though they were his own children.

Grandchildren Courtney Cropp (Blane), Bennington, NE; Caitlin Monahan (Patrick), Charleston, SC; Allison Predjulek (Steve), Huntington Valley, PA; Kelly Walsh (Richard), Havertown, PA; Melissa Shoener, Philadelphia, PA; Great-Grandchildren Patrick Richard Monahan, Charleston, SC; Brinley Harper Cropp, Bennington, NE.

Brothers Richard Shoener (Elaine) and George Shoener (Andrea). He was pre-deceased by his sister Shirley Harman (Earl). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Roy's family will host a private funeral service that will be announced at a later date. Please remember him in your thoughts and prayers and we look forward to him entering the gates of heaven.
