Obituary

With deep love and heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Joseph M. Sette, who left this world peacefully on June 19, 2025, at the age of 94. A lifelong resident of Roxborough, Philadelphia, Joseph was a devoted husband, proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Army veteran, and a true friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born on September 9, 1930, in Philadelphia, Joseph lived a life defined by love, hard work, faith, and service. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, exemplifying his strong sense of duty and patriotism.

He was the beloved husband of the late Marie Fonte Sette, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage filled with love, laughter, and family. Together, they raised three children: Gina Torzolini (John), Daniel (Diane), and Joseph (Valerie). He has two grandchildren, Daniel Jr. (Christina) and Nicholas (Angela), and one great-grandson, Theo.

Joseph was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent much of his career as a foreman at Penn Fishing Reel and also worked at The Philadelphia Inquirer. He was known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and unwavering reliability.

Joseph had a special place in his heart for St. John the Baptist Church in Manayunk, where he was a faithful and longtime parishioner. His faith was a guiding light throughout his life.

In his final year, Joseph resided at New Seasons at New Britain in Chalfont, where he was treated with compassion and love by both the staff and fellow residents. The family would also like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the Compassus Hospice team for their exceptional care, support, and presence during Joseph's final days.

Joseph was a warm, friendly, and genuine man who cared deeply about everyone he met. He loved reading the newspaper, doing crossword puzzles (especially the ones in the paper), and cheering for his favorite Philadelphia teams, the Phillies and the Eagles. His presence was a comfort, his love a constant, and his legacy everlasting.

A life well lived, a man deeply loved.
