Joseph R. Phillips, (Joe), passed away on July 12, 2014 peacefully surrounded by his children in Doylestown Hospital. Joe is predeceased by his loving and devoted wife Betty Phillips of 57 years. Joe was born on July 7, 1927 in Philadelphia, to Samuel and Bambina (Taglialatela) Phillips. He was 87. He was a WWII Veteran in the 13th Air Supply Squadron. After serving our country he worked with his father as a mason. Retired as owner of North Woods Auto Exchange in West Oak Lane, Philadelphia. He loved working in his yard and had a passion for cooking. You could always find him watching a cooking show & having his family try new recipes. He enjoyed playing bingo weekly with his friends at the Centre Square Apartments. Joe was a strong willed traditional man. He was a devoted father to Elizabeth (Marty) Nowak, Samuel (Nancy) Phillips, Robert (Tammi) Phillips, Maria (Jeffrey) Bongarzone, John Phillips and Loretta (Rob) Livezey. He was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Joe left behind his brother Lester Phillips, sister Regina Ferraro, and the late Mary Curtis, and Louis and Ron Phillips; beloved dog Dora and many dear friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Saturday July 19, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am., at St. John Bosco Church, 235 E. County Line Rd. Hatboro. Interment will be private at a later date.
