Obituary

Joseph F. Manero, Sr., age 88, of Glenside, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on July 10, 2017. Born August 13, 1928 to Rose and Anthony Manero in Germantown. He was the loving husband of 62 years to Joan (née Malone).

Joe was born into humble beginnings and worked tirelessly to provide for his wife and 8 children, creating a legacy through his trade. Joe worked passionately to build a masonry business which his sons continue to this day, Joseph Manero and Sons, Inc.

At a young age Joe learned the importance of hard work and dedication, providing for his siblings and parents on their farm. Joe later met the love of his life, Joan, on a blind date and they soon married and began their family in West Oak Lane. In 1970 Joe built a larger home in Glenside to provide for his growing family. Joe was a dedicated worker; in addition to running his masonry business, he sold Christmas trees during the holiday season and drove a water ice truck through the streets of Glenside during the summer. Everyone knew Mr. Manero's water ice truck.

Joe's greatest role was being the patriarch of his giant loving family. In addition to his loving wife, Joan, he was the devoted father of Joan (Glenn) Gullotti, Joseph, Jr. (Maureen), Dominic (Susan), Dorothy (Stephen) Mascione, Rose (Joseph) Violi, Anthony (Nancy), Francis (Leigh), and Anita (Cindy Roberts); dear brother of Anna Kauffman, and the late Dominic, Nancy Martinelli, Rose Francescangeli, Charles, Anthony, Francis, and Rudolph; loving grandfather to Dominic, Adam, Michael, Brandon, Joseph III, Grace, Christina, Mark, Laura, Dominic, Christopher, Katelyn, Alyssa, Anthony, Evan, Jenna, Sara, Julia, Nina, Anthony, Joanna, Brian, Vincent, Nicholas, Kyle, Kelley and great grandfather to  Julianna, Dominic, Isabella, Leah, Corrado, Elvera, and Leonardo.
