Obituary

Jerry A. Naessens

December 1, 1935 – October 10, 2025

Jerry A. Naessens, of Roslyn, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Friday, October 10, 2025, just weeks before his 90th birthday. Born in Saginaw and raised in Merrill, Michigan, he graduated valedictorian of Sacred Heart High School at sixteen and later served in the U.S. Navy in the years following the Korean War. While stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, he met the love of his life, Anna Marie "Nancy" (nee: Gavaghan), at a dance in Philadelphia, beginning a life together and a 69-year marriage centered on faith, hard work, and their nine children.

Working days and studying nights at La Salle College, Jerry earned his accounting degree and CPA certification. Professionally, Jerry began at Fry, Lutz, Summers & Co., where he rose to owner and managing partner and helped lead the firm's 1981 merger into Deloitte Haskins & Sells, serving there as a partner until 1991. He then started a second act in community banking—first as Chief Financial Officer and later as President of Roxborough-Manayunk Bank, retiring in 2002. He served on the boards of Thistle Group Holdings (1996–2004) and First Keystone Financial (2004–2010), and in 2007 was inducted into the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers Hall of Fame for his contributions to the industry. Colleagues knew Jerry as steady, exacting, and fair—someone who could carry both the numbers and the people with him.

In later years, Jerry and Nancy fulfilled a lifelong dream of traveling the world—though as the family fondly recalls, most of those trips were pilgrimages to the shrines of the Blessed Mother, places Nancy longed to see, and Jerry came to love just as deeply. Together, they found joy and faith in every journey.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Geralyn (Jules, deceased) Bauer, Annette (Phil) Moran, John (partner Jennifer Hannan), Michael, Patrick (Christine), Therese (Brett Moser) Naessens Moser, Glen (partner Valarie Acevedo) and Renee; twenty grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Suzanne (Gary) Tomlinson and Marian Leon and seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Andrew, his parents, Andrew and Marie (Potvin), and his brother, Phillip.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 20, 2025, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 820 North Hills Avenue, Ardsley, PA 19038. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation in the church starting at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m..
