James Robert
Carpenter
Oct 12, 1926 — Jan 14, 2024
James Robert "Bob" Carpenter, born October 12, 1926 lived a long, fulfilling, and enjoyable life. He passed on to heaven on January 14, 2024. He was a self-made success, a caring father, a fantastic friend and a loving husband.
His perseverance and determination were some of the qualities that made him who he was. His character and integrity were also integral in every part of his life.
His hard work and tremendous work ethic made for a successful working career. He was dedicated for over 25 years at McGraw Hill Book Company and ventured into ownership of Marwood Rest Home for over 50 years.
He answered the call of his country, joining the Navy from 1944 to 1946 during WWII and received the Victory medal in 1947. Through the G.I. bill he attended the University of Delaware.
He married Virginia Stein and was nearly inseparable from her for 69 years. He loved, supported and cared for his family… Children (Lyle, Laurie, Scott and spouses, Erin, John, Lynn), grandchildren (Lindsey, Bobby, Madison, Mackenzie and their spouses and soon to be spouses, John, Ryan, Jacob, and Szilvi), and great-grandchild, Penelope and… step-grandchildren, Alex and spouse Alexandra, Andrew and Lauren). There are many stories and memories and acts of kindness to be proud of.
He was truly the "gentle" in gentleman. We know he will be with us in spirit every day as long as we live.
