Ian Chapman, 72, of Willow Grove, PA, passed away peacefully on September 2 with his children by his side. Ian was born in Coventry, England on May 25, 1946 to the late Edward and Ida Chapman.
Ian was a loving and devoted father to Richard, Colin (Ashlee), and Rebecca (Kevin). The joy of Ian's life was his grandchildren Francesca, Olivia, Allegra, Aubree, Lulu, Colin Jr, and Carmella. He enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could, and always brought a smile to their face. He is also survived by the mother of his children Pauline Thomas, his brother Nigel (Beverley), sister in law Ruby and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother Geoffrey.
Ian had an extremely successful career as a metallurgist working for both SPS Technologies and Ingersoll Rand for over 50 years. His job allowed him to travel the world and visit countries he only dreamed of. Many of his co-workers have called him a mentor, leader, and above all friend.
Ian's favorite hobby was fishing. He also loved watching soccer, and never gave up on his hometown team, Coventry City "Sky Blues."
Ian will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Services to celebrate Ian's life will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 1030 at the Wayside Chapel located at Whitemash Cemetery 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002. Visitors may begin to arrive at 10am. Interment immediately to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ian's name in Cadence's Ninjas Fighting Leukemia (
