Obituary

Gregory H. Burch of Solebury, formerly of Hatboro passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Doylestown Hospital surrounded by family. Born March 12, 1947, in Staten Island, New York, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Burch of Hatboro. Gregory served in the United States Marine Corp Reserves stationed at NAS Willow Grove from 1965-1971. It was in the mid 70's when his creative and entrepreneurial spirit bloomed when he founded a coffee business in New Hope and later Burch & Jones Jewelers. In addition to his work as an unique designer of jewelry, Greg was active in politics and was often seen campaigning on local, state and national levels. His love of all things Republican was something that one would learn within a few minutes of meeting him. He was an active volunteer with several local and state police departments in PA and the NJ State Police. Gregory was involved with the National Fraternal Order of Police in various fundraising and humanitarian efforts. He raised German Shepherd dogs for police canine units. Gregory had a huge heart for all animals and would often rescue strays. Gregory was preceded in death by his wife Lesley Jones. He is survived by his son, Kevin Burch, Pennsylvania and his daughter, Dawn Word and her husband Christian who reside in Virginia; two grandsons, Mason and Parker Word; two brothers, Joseph Burch and his wife Camilla, and John Burch and his wife Dorothea; his sister Jane Burns and many nephews and nieces and their children; and by his former wife, Jean Burch. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, March 4th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Angelone Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Easton Road,( Willow Grove, 215-659-0202). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 5th at 10:00am at St. David's Catholic Church, 316 N. Easton Road, Willow Grove. The Burial will be at the Hatboro Cemetery, Hatboro, following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bucks County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), P.O. Box 277, Street Road, Lahaska, PA 18931.
