Gloria Madeline Volpe (nee Stellacio), 90, of Lafayette Hill, PA, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, died peacefully September 1, 2021 at The Hill at Whitemarsh , with her loving husband by her side . Gloria was born in Philadelphia to Charles and Madelena (Giranda) Stellacio. She is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years Joseph B. Volpe, Jr. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Kristina (Volpe) Focht (Frank Pearson), son Joseph B. Volpe III (Cindy), Grandson Tyler Focht, Granddaughters Devon Volpe, Amanda Focht and Loren Volpe. She was preceded in death by her daughter Karen Volpe, her parents and her brother Albert Stellacio.
Gloria grew up in the Germantown section of Philadelphia where she attended Germantown High School (Class of 1949) exceling in her favorite subject, Spanish. Gloria worked as an executive assistant for the Insurance Company of North America before marrying her high school sweetheart, Joe in 1952 , honeymoon in Cuba where their love continued to grow . As a young wife she had many adventures traveling with her husband while he was in the Army and finally settling in Dresher, PA where she raised her three children while volunteering as a girl scout leader, teacher 's helper, and mother ' s club volunteer. She continued her love of traveling and planned trips to Italy, Hong Kong, The Orient Express, Danube River Cruise and many other trips with her husband .
Gloria was a talented oil painter creating treasured artwork , a golfer who played for the love of the outdoors and time with her friends and family on the course . She created many family memories at her favorite home in Ocean City, NJ and winters in Naples , F L . No matter where she was, she was only truly happy with her grandchildren around her being loved and spoiled.
Gloria lived a full, exuberant life and her beautiful smile and heart will be missed by all who knew her.
She was a loving, devoted wife and mother and a Granny that will always fill our hearts with love.
Granny, "you'll be in our hearts, from this day on, now and forever more."
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Saturday, September 11, 2021, from 9:30 to 10:30 am., followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 am., at the Queen of Peace Church, 820 North Hills Ave., Ardsley, PA 19038. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a breast cancer or kidney disease charity of your choice.
