Gerard F "Jerry" Casale Jr. on March 7, 2012, Born in Chestnut Hill, Jerry was a graduate of Northeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia and served in the United States Army as a Communications specialist. He later returned from service to help his parents manage the Hill Cycle Shop in Chestnut Hill where the family owned business served the cycling community for over seven decades. As an active member of the Pennsylvania Bicycle Club and cycling community, Jerry devoted his life to the sport as a mentor and coach to countless young cyclist. Many of these riders going on to achieve National and World class status in the sport. Jerry also trained and coached several talented athletes in the area many of which went on to compete in the famed Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii. Over the last 25 years, Jerry is most recognized for having co-founded the Philadelphia International Cycling Championship bringing world class bicycle racing to the US and Philadelphia area and producing over 200 professional cycling events nationwide. Beyond these lasting contributions to the sport, Jerry will be most remembered for his indescribable devotion to his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Philomena "Cookie" (nee: Mangino); beloved father of Gerard III, Nicholas (Wendy), and Joseph (Frances) Casale; loving grandfather of Gerard IV, Gina Marie, Victoria Frances, Nicole Angela, Julia Rose, Nicholas Joseph, and the late Alicia. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm., at the ANGELONE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 501 Easton Road (Willow Grove, 215-659-0202) and on Monday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 am., at the St. Alphonsus Church, 33 Conwell Drive, Maple Glen. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday morning at 11:00 am., at St. Alphonsus Church. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
