George R. Raven of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania passed away Friday, August 24 th , 2018 at the MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was 71 years old. George was born September, 8 th 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Also, George lived in Croydon, Pennsylvania early in his life. George served his country in the United States Navy and was a Disabled Veteran. George was a Millwright/Machinist by trade. He attended Drexel University and St. Joseph University Comey Institute at Saint Joseph's University for Labor Relations/Parliamentary Law and graduated with honors. George was known in his field(s) of expertise as a hard and diligent worker and a critical thinker. He was a great husband and Father. He had a passion for soccer and stated when he saw a soccer field, "there is a sign of intelligence." He was a soccer coach for sixteen years and took two teams to Germany and Ireland. In addition, he shared coaching skills with his two sons, grandchildren and many others. George is the son of the late George L. Raven (WWII Veteran) and the late Genevieve Raven (nee -McDaniel's). He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Linda M. L. Chiarolanza-Raven both of Philadelphia, PA. George and Linda celebrated their +50th Anniversary at the Cathedral in Houston High Mass celebrated by Cardinal Daniel Di Nardo. He is the beloved father of George R. Raven Jr. (Karen), Anthony E. Raven (Annette); dear brother of the late Martin Raven (Vietnam Veteran); loving grandfather of Anthony Jr and Talen. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 9:00 A.M – 10:30 AM at Angelone Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090 . A funeral mass service at 11:00 AM at Saint David's Church 316 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. His graveside service will follow with Military Honors rendered at 1:30 P.M. at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
